ANNUAL CASPA BANQUET
On October 19th 2024, CASPA had their annual banquet at the Santa Clara Convention Center. CASPA Youth members had the opportunity to introduce the youth club to various attendees such as successful entrepreneurs in STEM and business alike. Particpants socialized and enjoyed dinner during the night, leaving everyone happy and relaxed. The Banquet had a number of inspiring speakers on stage, who all gave valuable insight on their experiences and what the future may hold. Our members also received their awards for the CASPA scholarship, congratulations to our seniors!
Thank you to all the Speakers and Volunteers who made this event possible!
FIRST OFFLINE CYC MEETING
The first offline event of CASPA Youth Club ended successfully in Q Bay on June 15th, 2024, a total of 40 people attended the meeting (all signed Waivers), including 17 middle and primary school students, 5 college mentors, and many parent volunteers, bringing new strength and vitality to the CASPA community! The participants engaged with cutting-edge technology through interactions with a robotic dog, robotic arm operating, social activities, robotics expert talks, and introductions from pioneering university student entrepreneurs. This laid a solid foundation for future Youth Club projects. Special thanks to President Mingyu for her strong support! She came to encourage the children right after her WIS event.
Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to Charlie, Tony, and Zhibin for their full participation today, contributing valuable insights for the present and future of the CASPA Youth Club. We were also fortunate to have an inspiring interactive talk from David, a remarkable young entrepreneur who dropped out of his sophomore year at Upenn to start Bronco AI. Sincere gratitude to Rich and Yuyang: Rich shared trends in robotics development and asked the children many questions, while Yuyang vividly narrated the story of Fei-Fei Li, the "Mother of AI." Lastly, a big thank you to the University Coach Team members and all the volunteers who quietly supported this event! On July 5, 2024, Caspa Youth Club members gathered for a barbeque at a park, where we discussed the finance initiative proposal and future meeting dates for the low-cost robot project. When everyone arrived at the park, we sat down at a table together and enthusiastically agreed upon our first QBay meeting date: July 6. Afterward, everyone surrounded the food table because we were excited to try the appetizing barbeque options that had been prepared, such as chicken skewers, Liangpi, Caesar salad, and various snacks. After getting the food, Caspa Youth Club members conversed while eating dinner and got to know each other better. Before the end of the barbeque, all members gathered together once more to consider future fundraising plans for Caspa through the finance initiative proposal. We ended the night with more socializing among members and parents and were eager to begin assembling the robot the next day!
CASPA Youth Club Second Meeting
The CASPA Youth Club recently held its second meeting, featuring engaging hands-on activities and opportunities for social interaction. Our members began the session by downloading and opening the necessary files to enter a robot arm simulation. They spent about 30 minutes experimenting with the simulated robot arm, attempting various tasks such as picking up objects. This provided valuable experience in robotics and control systems.
The club attempted to connect an already assembled robot arm to laptops. Unfortunately, connectivity issues were encountered, likely due to incorrect wiring. This highlighted the importance of troubleshooting and understanding hardware configurations.
In the final hour, members enjoyed simple socializing activities, chatting with friends and fellow club members, and fostering a sense of community. Despite some technical challenges, the meeting was successful, offering both educational and social benefits. The club continues to provide a supportive environment for learning and collaboration.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the CASPA Youth Club!
